WinNT Control is used to start and stop Microsoft Windows NT Services and Servers within a Microsoft Windows Network.
This page is a list of services that are installed on the selected machine. Each networked Windows NT workstation or server can be controlled if the account context which ipMonitor runs under has the necessary permissions.
From this page you can:
- Start a service by clicking a linked service name that has a "Red" indicator.
- Stop a service by selecting a linked service name that has a "Green" indicator.
- Reboot the selected computer (if previously enabled).
For security reasons the WinNT Control option is only available to administrator accounts.
For some network security scenarios this feature may transmit too much information regarding machines on the network via the HTTP protocol. For more information refer to the following topics:
- ipMonitor Configuration - Discusses how to limit this feature to specific IP Addresses or ranges of IP Addresses. Also discussed is how to fully or partially disable the NT Services feature in ipMonitor.
- ipMonitor Security - Discusses how ipMonitor affects network security.
