Profile Decision Settings
< BackIndexNext >

A Profile is a collection of "Alerts" that act on behalf of a set of Monitors.

Profiles join Monitors to Alerts. In so doing they effectively determine who gets alerted when a Monitor is required to deal with a failure.

The decisions made by a Profile are simple.

  1. First, they determine whether the monitor has detected a failure or recovery.
  2. Second, they determine whether the monitor is configured to trigger Alerts in the Profile.
Notes regarding Profiles:
  • During configuration a list of Monitors and Groups are selected for the Profile. Only those Monitors or Groups are allowed to trigger Alerts in the Profile.

  • If a failing or recovering monitor is a member of a selected Group it is subsequently part of the list of Monitors that are allowed to trigger Alerts in the Profile.

  • If the entire "Global (All Monitors)" Group is assigned to a Profile, every configured monitor (in ipMonitor) is allowed to trigger Alerts in the Profile.

Note: "Recovery Scripts" are also Alerts.
