Monitor Status

Once ipMonitor is up and running, Monitor Status is the interface you will likely look at most often to determine the state of your enterprise. In a control room it's the screen displayed up on the rack 24/7 showing the state of the network.

ipMonitor offers 3 views showing Monitor Status:

Status Summary Monitor Summary is a break down of the state of all monitors, categorized by "Group".
Expanded Status Report Monitor Status by Group reports in detail the state of all relevant monitors for a specific "Group" showing both Dependencies and individual Members.
Control Room Status Report Monitor Status by Group reports in shortened form, the state of all relevant monitors for a specific "Group" showing both Dependencies and individual Members.

The Monitor Status Button Bar:

Full Screen A full screen page containing only a "Back" button will be generated. This view makes it possible to display monitors without the surrounding interface.
Refresh You can force the Monitor Status page to refresh at any time by clicking the "Refresh" button located on the ipMonitor button bar. Refreshing will report the current state of each Monitor and will reflect changes in status which have occurred since the last refresh. Normally the Monitor Status page is refreshed automatically and intervals are controlled from the "General Settings" page.

Data Reported - The following is the maximum information reported for each monitor, depending on which Monitor Status view is selected:

Column Comment
Monitor Name This is the name given to the Monitor at time of creation.
Monitor Type Monitor by type or protocol.
Last Status Reports the state of the Monitor, as of the last time polled. For a list of all possible Last Status reports, refer to "Data Reported by Last Status".
Pending   Notice of pending action the ipMonitor will take. Usually the action in progress, "Testing", "Notifying"...
Next Poll The time shown is the exact amount of time until the next probe. The time shown is relative to the time stamped at the top of the page which is the time the page was last automatically or manually refreshed. Internally, ipMonitor operates on a very accurate chronometer independent of the meta refresh rate (shown on the page).

Data Reported by Last Status - Last Status comments reported by the ipMonitor are listed on a per Monitor basis. Please refer to Last Status by Monitor Type for details regarding Last Status codes displayed for Monitors in the Monitor Status reports.

Possible Pending Actions - All possible Pending actions the ipMonitor may take and their meaning are listed below.

Testing… All monitors Currently, the monitor is evaluating the resource
Notifying… All monitors Currently, the monitor is telling all profiles that a notification needs to occur
