![]() ipMonitor is a stand-alone Web Server that installs as a service on Windows NT. Like other Web servers it uses the HTTP protocol to communicate. As such, you will use a Web browser to view status reports and configure the software. The ipMonitor "monitoring engine" uses over 40 monitor types to test availability and responsiveness of IP devices, NT Services, SQL databases and servers at the protocol or file system level. Popular monitor types include:
ipMonitor is able to group monitors into lists where the entire group is dependent upon a single monitor to function. This powerful feature would prevent possibly hundreds of alerts being triggered in the event that an IP router failed (providing that all IP devices being routed by the router were part of a dependent Group). ipMonitor provides several methods to contact administrators. Escalated (or ordered) alerting can be used to share responsibilities among many administrators with differing levels of responsibility. While alerting takes place a recovery script can attempt to repair the problem. Usually, recovery involves restarting a service or application, however, in some cases a complete reboot of the device or machine may be required. Recovery Scripts are implemented through standard batch files. These Scripts run utilities provided by DeepMetrix, operating system utilities and third party software. Environment variables can be passed to the script defining the information required to correct the problem.
